Danna Blanco

Danna Blanco, better known as DAMAWEISS (in the world of comics), is a self-taught cartoonist of Peruvian origin.

I started my training as a cartoonist since I was a child, when I found "my best way to express myself" through pencils and paper.
The first comics I made were for my parents, to send them "indirect" messages such as to stop doing things I didn't like, like "smoking".

Between 2007-2008 I collaborated with political cartoons in the local newspaper of the city of Ica (Peru) "La opinión".

Between 2009 - 2011 I took a break from drawing and it was in 2012 when I returned to them in my university stage (studying architecture) stage when I was encouraged to participate in comic contests.

I participated in 2012 in the contest of floral games of the UPC and won 1st place with the comic "Taciturnia" of drama genre.

In 2013 I participated again and won 1st place with the comic "oscuro" of horror genre.

In 2014 I created the comic "Las migajas de la noche", of drama genre. Despite not winning any award, it is the comic that I have sold the most so far.

In 2015, I participated with A.V. for the "XII Comic Contest", organized by the PUCP, where we won second place nationally with the comic "Escondido" of horror genre.

I participated in the biggest comic festival in Peru "Festival Carboncito" in 2023 obtaining excellent sales.

I currently live in São Paulo and work on autobiographical comic strips and a new comic of drama genre called "Reunión familiar".
